Valentine's Day is a time for connection. While card companies, chocalatiers and florists may enjoy the boost in sales, the romantic holiday provides opportunity for friends, family and loved ones to enjoy each other's company and celebrate their relationships.
In the spirit of connection and relationship LINC Houston Community Services threw a Valentine's dance for the community on February 11th.
"The dance gave the community a chance to come together and meet," said Michelle Gil, co-ordinator for the event.
Kids ranging from 5 to 20 came out to join the fun and parents joined in the festivities as well. Door prizes were given out and a dance contest rewarded the most nimble footed with an iTunes gift card.
"It was cool to see how talented the kids are," Gil said, "I got to see parents dancing with their kids and having a family night out."
In a world that often pulls families apart LINC is honored to be able to serve the community with an opportunity to reconnect with their loved ones and have a great time doing it.
Gil said, "As the pictures show, the kids and families had a blast!"
